Miranda has now retired after nearly 35 years of looking after all of the bookings and dealing with your enquiries. Please contact FalCottages for all enquiries regarding reservations and vacancies. Please contact cellars@placeestate.co.uk for Cellars Cottage enquiries. Some things don't change in Cornwall, Nicky will still be available and on the spot.
Nicky lives in Barton Farm House and is on the spot for any problems that may arise. She often has her 3 grown up sons to stay, plus daughters-in-law and lots of grandchildren. They don’t seem to be able to stay away.
The Place Estate with its church and manor house has been in our family for over 400 years. It is set in the lovely Roseland peninsular, is almost entirely surrounded by sea and has been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty and a heritage coastline.
It’s a long time since our first cottage was advertised for letting, and we can’t quite believe it, but that was more than 40 years ago. Now we have 5 letting cottages, sleeping from 2 and up to 11 and many of our guests return year after year with their children, dogs and grandchildren, as do all our own grown up children.
We have all been involved in the holiday business since our childhood. In those days the main house, Place, was a hotel. After it was requisitioned during WWII it was in such a dilapidated state, our mother, then a very young bride, took one look at it and decided she was not ready to live there and it became a guest house/hotel, but that’s another story.
Our summer holidays were spent in a cottage on the farm, and we would spend the evenings helping making sandwiches for the guests’ packed lunches!
Our parents slowly brought the grounds under control and made a home in the converted stables.
Place was renovated in the early 90’s by Kevin and his wife Moo and is available for rent. If you are interested, please contact info@placeestate.co.uk
We really do love sharing this beautiful and peaceful place with all our guests, their children and friends, and of course their dogs.
